Case Study: Front Mounted Sweeper for a Kubota M7172 Tractor

One solution for mounting a sweeper to your Kubota M-Series Tractor......

 · 2 min read

The Kubota Europe research and development centre has chosen the Kersten KM 70 Sweeper for the maintenance of their roads. The quality of manufacturing and the technical advantages of our KM70 series sweeper have made the difference. The sweeper is fitted on the front linkage of the Kubota M7172 - a fantastic machine, packing 170hp.

This combination is ideal for clearing the mud and other debris on the roads around the research centre, which uses adjacent fields and its purpose built track to put prototype machines and equipment to the test. It is easy for mud to get tracked around the site on the wheels of the heavy machines.

The KM70 is powered by the tractor hydraulics, which are used to operate the large 70cm diameter brush, as well as the floating collector box and gully brush. All the functions, height settings, and brush speeds can be finely set to suit the surface and material being swept.

The items used in this project were as follows:

  1. ABR 70 Front - Floating hitch
  2. KM 25070 H - 70cm Diameter Sweeper
  3. SSB 25070 - floating collector box
  4. ASH 8570 L - Gully Brush

The KM 70 range of sweepers can be fitted with KM Control, which automatically adjusts the pressure of the brush. This ensures a clean finish on undulating surfaces and also protects the brush from excessive wear. Other sweepers struggle with the collector box bottoming out or excess brush wear because of the pressure put on the brush by the heavy carrier vehicle, this is overcome by both the KM Control and the floating collector box.

Kersten sweepers are great at maintaining hard surfaces by removing detritus and debris which reduces weed growth and is fundamental to Integrated weed management.
